Steve Waugh leads Australia to glory at the ICC Cricket World Cup 1999

Steve Waugh was an inspirational captain for Australia and led them to a magnificent victory at the ICC Cricket World Cup 1999 played in England. Australia won three of their group games and managed to win all their Super Six encounters. They were involved in the famous game against South Africa in the semi-final when match ended as a tie but because Australia had defeated South Africa in the Super Six stage, they qualified for the final against Pakistan. They defeated Pakistan comprehensively as Waugh led Australia to the title after a gap of 12 years. It was his second World Cup victory as a player as he was part of the 1987 team when Australia won the title for the first time under Allan Border.

Amul in their style tributes Waugh’s victory stating ‘Steve Wah!’ and ‘Aus you like it’
