Glenn Maxwell has reached his fifty in the final of the tri-series between Australia and England at Perth. Maxwell had walked out to bat when Australia had lost three wickets inside the first 15 overs. Later, they lost the in form batsman Steve Smith. Maxwell has since carried the innings and brought in assurance with his display. He has also completed 1,000 runs in ODIs.

Maxwell has played some good strokes and has countered the bowling well. If Australia are to get a big score on this wicket and pose a threat to England, Maxwell has to make this innings count. He is the kind of player who always packs a punch and has the armoury to succeed at the death when the bowlers will be under pressure.

Earlier, England had won the toss and chose to bowl first. One would say it is after their performance against India in the previous game on the same surface where they had bowled India out for only 200. For this game, England retained their team. Australia were strengthened by the addition of Mitchell Johnson.
