Here is a complete list of all the 300s scored by Indians in First-Class cricket.

On this day in 2004, Virender Sehwag scored a majestic 309 against Pakistan in Multan to become the first Indian to score a triple century in a Test match. Even before the Nawab of Najafgarh reached the landmark with a cracking six over long on against Saqlain Mushtaq, Indian cricket has had many decorated names scoring triple-centuries in first-class cricket.

Here is a list of all the 300s by Indians in First-Class cricket. Below are the inning wise, team wise, opposition wise, batting order wise and more distributions.

Facts & Trivia

# Kumar Duleepsinghji scored 333 for Sussex vs Northamptonshire in 1930. He was born in India, but played Cricket for England. His knock is not included in the above list.

# Hazare’s 309 resulted in a loss by an inning for his team. It is the only triple century by an Indian in a lost First-Class match. And it is the only inning in First-Class history which resulted in an innings defeat for the team. There have been 5 other triple centuries which resulted in defeats – 343* PA Perrin (1904), 338* RC Blunt (1931/32), 319 RR Rossouw (2009/10), 312 JER Gallian (1996) and 301* Peter Fulton (2002/03).

# Hazare scored 309 out of the 387 runs aggregated by his team, which is 79.85 % of the team’s runs.

# Imtiaz Ahmed’s 300* and Vijay Hazare’s 309 were while following on.Only other two triple centuries while following on in a First-Class match are 344 by WG Grace in 1876 (It was the first ever 300 in an FC match) and 337 by Hanif Mohammad in 1957/58 (Test).

# Imtiaz is the only wicketkeeper-batsman to score a triple century in an FC match among Indians.

# Bhausaheb Nimbalkar’s 443* is still the only quadruple century in First-Class Cricket by an Indian. It is the 4th highest individual score in First-Class Cricket.

# Hazare’s 309, Imtiaz’s 300* and Pujara’s 352 were in the second inning of their teams. Other six cricketers to score a triple century in the second inning are – Don Bradman (452*), WG Grace (344), RC Blunt (338*), Hanif Mohammad (337), Mal Loye (322*) and Clyde Walcott (314*).

# AG Kripal Singh’s 302* was scored while batting at No.7. It is the lowest batting position where an Indian has scored a triple century in First-Class cricket. Also it is the highest score by a No.7 in First-Class Cricket history.

# WV Raman’s 313 and Kripal Singh’s 302* were in the same inning.

# 850 runs were scored while MV Sridhar was at the wicket. It is the record in First-Class history. Only others to be at crease for 800+ runs of their teams: 811 runs – R Abel in his 357* for Surrey vs Somerset in 1899, 802 runs – Brian Lara in his 501* for Warwickshire vs Durham in 1994 (6 months after MV Sridhar’s 366) and 801 runs – Bill Ponsford in his 429 for Victoria vs Tasmania in 1922/23.

# Kripal Singh’s 302* consisted only of 20 fours, which is 80 runs among those 302 (26.49%). It is the lowest boundaries share among all the triple centuries by Indians in First-Class cricket. Next lowest is Dinesh Mongia’s 308* which consisted of 15 fours and five sixes — 90 runs (29.22 %).

# Sehwag is the only Indian to score a 300 in Test Cricket — He scored two.

# Sehwag is also the only Indian to score a 300 in First Class Cricket outside India (309 at Multan).

# Pujara after his triple century (302*) scored 189 and 176 in next two consecutive innings. His 3 consecutive 175+ scores in First-Class Cricket was the 3rd such occasion after WG Grace (344,177,318*) and Clem Hill (176,205,185). Recently, Joe Root (182, 236, 179) became the 4th to join this list.

# Pujara (352) and T Kohli (300*) reached their 300 on the same day, 10th Jan 2013, but in different matches.

# Jadeja’s 314 consisted of 9 sixes, which is the most by an Indian while scoring a Triple Century in First-Class cricket.

# Hazare’s inning of 316* was in 387 minutes, it is the shortest inning of all the 39 triple centuries by Indians in First-Class cricket.

# Pujara’s 352 is the second highest individual score in team’s second inning in First-Class history. The leader is Bradman who scored 452* for New South Wales (NSW) against Queensland in 1929-30.

# Taruwar Kohli’s 300* were scored in 823 mintues, which is the longest inning of a triple century by Indians in First-Class cricket. However the longest inning in First-Class cricket by an Indian and overall is 1015 minutes by Rajeev Nayyar in his 271 for HP vs J&K in 1999/2000. (He is the only player to bat for 1000+ minutes in a First-Class inning.)

# Gul Mohammad, Ajit Wadekar, Woorkeri Raman, Dinesh Mongia, Sreekumar Nair, Abhinav Mukund & Ravindra Jadeja are the seven left-handed batsmen while rest 23 players are right-handers.

# 30 Triple Centuries by right-handers (23) while nine by left-handed batsmen (7).

# Laxman and Jadeja were involved in five matches in which a triple century was scored.

# Youngest to score a triple century in FC among the Indians is Wasim Jaffer, aged 18years, 8months and 22 days in 1996.

# Oldest to score a triple century in FC among the Indians is Raman Lamba. He reached his second triple century on his 35th birthday in 1995.

# Fastest triple century in terms of Minutes is BB Nimbalkar’s 443*. He reached the 300 run mark in 334 minutes.

# Fastest triple century in terms of balls faced is Sehwag’s 319. He reached the 300 run mark in 278 balls.

# Pujara brought up his 3rd triple century on 11th October 2013. It is the earliest date of Indian First-Class season on which a player has scored a Triple Century. The only other player to bring up his triple century in the month of October is Lamba. He scored 320 on 25th October 1987.
