Nepal‘s struggles with the bat so far have hindered their chances of opening their account in the T20I series against a seemingly superior Netherlands, who have had one of their opening batsmen building a base for a winning total batting first in all of the three matches. With the World T20I Qualifiers beginning in less than a week, Nepal would aim to stem the slide in the final T20I on Friday in Rotterdam. Nepal have batted second in all the games so far; resistances with the bat led by captain Paras Khadka helped them climb to within 18 runs of the Netherlands’ total in the first and the third T20Is, which were punctuated by a free-fall in the second, getting dismissed for 69 for their biggest loss in T20Is. They could attempt to change their situation by opting to bat first in this final match. LIVE CRICKET UPDATES: Netherlands vs Nepal, 4th T20I, Rotterdam
Netherlands have been served largely by runs from Stephan Myburgh to help them get a big total. When he was replaced by a debutant in the second game, Michael Swart, the other opener, stepped up and pillaged Nepal’s bowling with Ben Cooper. Nepal’s top order has looked invariably shaky: their inability to accelerate is compounded by regular wickets. Khadka has led lone resistance in two matches, and opener Gyanandra Malla, to an extent, has fired for them. If they are to win their first match, they would need a collective batting performance.
