A heart-sunked Michael Clarke calls it a day after a miserable run in the coveted ongoing Ashes so far, where he never breached the 50 run barrier. Clarke in a way exemplified the Aussie culture of ‘perform or quit’ theory.
Clarke forever will be remembered as a cricketer who played for the nation to the tee. He will retire from Test cricket after The Oval Test. Clarke gathered a paltry 117 runs in four Ashes Tests at an awful average of 16.71 in the entire series.
In his Test career, Clarke has featured in 114 Tests and amassed 8628 runs at a phenomenal average of 49.30 with 28 tenacious centuries to his name. The cricket fraternity congratulated Clarke for his indebted contribution towards cricket through social media.
Congrats to @MClarke23 One of the best batsmen Australia has produced. Privilege to have played with you mate. Enjoy the next chapter.#Ashes
