They registered a historic victory against Sri Lanka, chasing down 191 on the ultimate day with major inputs from Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman. On final day, they continued their their fireworks, putting up the highest 9th-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Bangladesh. The partnership added 80 runs and pushed the target to 191. Perera took his time when his team was losing successive wickets and later hit fearlessly to score a stunning half-century.

Birthday boy s early scalps: The last thing Bangladesh wanted after giving away too many runs was to lose early wickets. But Herath, the birthday boy, made sure there was even competition. The big partnership: Tamim Iqbal emerged as the knight in the shining armour for Bangladesh and found support from a relatively young Sabbir Rahman. A landmark within: Tamim Iqbal became the highest run-getter in Tests for Bangladesh in the fourth innings. He surpassed his teammate Shakib Al Hasan in the process.
