Four days back, in the BPL 2017 Eliminator against Dhaka Dynamites, Chris Gayle had slammed a 51-ball 126 not out for Rangpur Riders. That day Gayle went past Sabbir Rahman s BPL record of 122, scored for Rajshahi Kings against Barisal Bulls last year. Still not content, Gayle broke his own record today in the final against Dhaka Dynamites. This time he improved on the previous record by 20 runs, finishing on an unbeaten 146 from 51 balls. A whopping 108 of these came from his 18 sixes. Add to that his 5 fours, and you get a total of 128: in other words, Gayle had outscored his own record only in boundaries.

As is evident, Gayle occupies the fourth and fifth places as well. The others pale in comparison. As for his 18 sixes, it is now a world record in T20 cricket. He broke his own record of 17, hit during his 175 not out for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors India in the 2013 IPL.
Gayle also became the first to reach 11,000 T20 runs. He was on 11,056 at the end of his innings. To provide perspective, Brendon McCullum (with whom Gayle added an unbroken 201 today) is next, on 8,526.
