Junaid Khan has been ruled out of the Pakistan s squad for the New Zealand tour next month due to a hairline fracture to his right foot. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced it on Tuesday. He fractured his right foot during Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) while playing for Khulna Titans in November.

Junaid played a vital role in Pakistan s victory in 2017 Champions trophy picking up seven wickets in the tournament. Junaid has been dealing with injuries for a long time now. He played his last T20I in 2014 and Test in 2015 respectively. He made his ODI comeback in January this year against Australia. He was called up as a replacement for Mohammad Irfan who missed the series because of his mother s death.

The injury has delayed his T20I comeback even further, giving way to Irfan and Sohail Khan. Irfan was banned from all format of international cricket for six months for corruption charges. He was last seen in a competitive game but is yet to make his international comeback.

The Pakistan-New Zealand limited over series will begin from January 6. The series includes five ODIs and three T20Is. The T20Is will be played between January 22 and 28. The selectors will announce the squad later this week and the team will depart on December 26.
