After the Sunday debacle, where India were thrashed by Pakistan fair and square in the Champions Trophy final, the security at MS Dhoni s Ranchi-house has been upgraded by the Jharkhand government. Dhoni, former India captain and amongst the greatest finishers in limited-overs cricket, failed to pull off any heroics as defending champions India were handed a 180-run defeat by arch-rivals Pakistan. Dhoni scored only 4 runs as India were chasing down a challenging 339. The favourites were bundled for 158 as Pakistan won their maiden ICC Champions Trophy title. This is their first victory in any major ICC event post their successful campaign of ICC World T20 in 2009. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: India vs Pakistan, ICC Champions Trophy 2017 Final at The Oval
Reportedly, the security has been increased keeping in mind the behaviour of fans. Winning the toss, India captain Virat Kohli put Pakistan to bat. India remained unlucky to miss a few dismissal chances, which led to a big first-wicket partnership. Fakhar Zaman s maiden ODI ton laid a strong base for the Pakistan innings that went on to add 338 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Chasing the target, both Rohit Sharma and Kohli fell early to Mohammad Aamer, giving Pakistan the edge. India s only cheer came from Hardik Pandya, who slammed a 32-ball fifty and went on to score 76 before a horrible run out.
Hasan Ali was named the player of the tournament as well as the golden ball winner for taking the most number of wickets while Shikhar Dhawan bagged the golden bat for scoring most runs in this edition of the tournament.
