West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle, whose self-confidence often borders on self-obsession and invariably lands him in the middle of controversies, has again created a stir by bashing the media on a social media platform. In an emotional outburst on his official Instagram account, he posted a lengthy message that showed his arrogance, self-obsession and absolutely no remorse whatsoever for his acts. From claiming he builds Twenty20 (T20) leagues around the world to slamming the media, he did it all.
He also shared an image of himself with the message — “My idol & the person who I look up to and also want to be like when growing up as a kid is in the picture”. Gayle further went on to criticise the media for blowing his ‘Mel McLaughlin’ act out of proportion and also sarcastically thanked his haters. He further went on to criticise current and former players for not standing by his side and speaking for him when it mattered. The obvious reference was towards former England star Andrew Flintoff, who had criticised Gayle on Twitter. Gayle didn’t spare him and minced no words in letting his fans know how disappointed he is.
Well played @Mel_Mclaughlin !! Big fan of @henrygayle but made himself look a bit of a chop there @tensporttv #bbl05

He ended the message by promising to return back to Australia to play cricket, thus putting the doubts regarding his return to Australia to rest. Here read his full message:
In what could be his last game ever in BBL, Gayle smashed the fastest fifty in T20 cricket by equalling Yuvraj Singh’s feat and getting to the milestone from 12-balls, against the Adelaide Strikers. After his outburst on Instagram, he clarified to fans through that he isn’t the “World Boss” anymore but the “Universe Boss”.
Hello, it’s #UniverseBoss & not the #WorldBoss – I wish I could throw a party at my expense for the fans and smash a few bfore leave oz
