Australia‘s opening batsman is all set for a comeback to competitive cricket as he looks to play for Western Australia this season in the domestic circuit scheduled to begin this Friday at WACA in Perth.
He was supposed to miss out the whole domestic season due to an elbow injury he suffered few months back and underwent a surgery as well. However, he made a quick recovery and surprisingly passed the fitness test to be eligible for a comeback way sooner than anyone could have expected.
On the other hand, Western Australia coach, Justin Langer has already made Marsh clear that he would need to get off to a flying start to the domestic season right from the first match if he wants to get back to the Australian squad for the upcoming Australian cricketing summer.
“SOS is absolutely hanging to play. He’s in unbelievable physical condition. He’s so keen. He’s played a couple of games for Freo now. Unless something has changed in the last 24 hours, he’s a certain starter for Friday,” said Langer.
Another notable return for Western Australia is Australian speedstar, Michael Hogan returning to Australian domestic action from his season with English side, Glamorgan.
However, Joe Paris would be out of action for six weeks owing to his injury of quad tearing he suffered during the domestic one-day finals win over New South Wales.
Paris claimed 13 wickets in just five games, suffered the injury right after his second over in the finals, although NSW won owing to Michael Klinger‘s brilliant 96. He was later praised by coach, Langer.
“I’m still pinching myself that Michael Klinger is playing for us actually. I’m calling him Matt Priddis. He’s an unbelievable professional. He’s really tough, and he gets the job done.” said Langer.
