Lyca Kovai Kings eased their way to victory in Match No. 27 of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2017 as they beat Ruby Trichy Warriors at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. Warriors won the toss and elected to bat but struggled against Kings skilled attack. They put up a par score of 134 for 7 at the end of their innings which was easily chased down by the Kings batsmen. With the victory, the Kings climb to No. 4 position of the TNPL 2017 points table with here victories from seven matches they have played while the Warriors have only one victory from their seven matches and are positioned second from bottom.

The Warriors had a bizarre-looking scorecard as out of the seven batsmen that batted only two had put up double-digit scores. It was the duo of Nilesh Subramanian and Jagatheesan Kousik that made the biggest contribution. They together added 100 runs of the 134 the team scored. Subramanian scored 57 with the help of 4 boundaries while Kousik missed on his half-century, adding a 31-ball 43. Harish Kumar ran through the Warriors batting line-up, finishing with figures of 4 for 23. Krishnamoorthy Vignesh also bowled well, bagging 2 wickets giving away only 18 runs.

Despite losing skipper-opener Murali Vijay for a duck, the chase seemed a cakewalk for the Kings. Laxmesha Suryaprakash (30) built up a partnership with Anirudh Sita Ram (44) that put them in a commanding position while Akshay Srinivasan (34*) guided his side to victory.
