Wriddhiman Saha had injured his thumb while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) in the Indian Premier League Qualifier 2 against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 25 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Due to this he missed out the historic Afghanistan Test and the upcoming England Test series. However, he is all set to undergo shoulder surgery in Manchester later this month or start of next month. It is learnt that BCCI had given Saha two options to pick for surgery as he chose Manchester over Mumbai.

Saha will be travelling to Manchester with his wife, she has given application for visa. The recovery from surgery will see Saha out from cricket for six to eight months according to a source. He was informed by the BCCI that surgery is the only option and that he could decide between Mumbai or Manchester to get the surgery done. His wife s visa application has been forwarded by the board and the process shall be completed at the earliest,”A bcci official said as qouted by Cricketnext.

The surgery will take place either at the end of this month or early next month, depending on when they finally arrive in England. It is too early to speak about his return and a call can only be taken after taking a look at his recovery speed. It could be anything between 6 to 8 months, he added.

Saha might also miss the Australia Test series end of the year. It is known that Saha’s shoulder injury back from South Africa tour was not fully recovered. He blamed on the rehabilitation process going wrong at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Saha s rehabilitation had been completely goofed up. The NCA physio bungled it. Once he is done with surgery, he will not touch the bat for at least two months and then the rehab will start, the official said.
