Adam Zampa Biography

A leg-spinner with most stoics of expressions but humorous from inside, Adam Zampa came to the fore during the 2016 World T20 in India with leg-breaks. He was selected ahead of the seasoned Cameron Boyce. Zampa did not disappoint in yet another ordinary campaign for Australia: he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker with 5 wickets as they crashed out in the first round.

Zampa’s 3 for 23 in the match against Bangladesh saw him winning the Man of the Match award, as he joined a very short list of Australian spinners who were bestowed with that honour in the shortest format in the past.

He continued his impressive run in India in the IPL that followed. Playing for Rising Pune Supergiants in their debut season, Zampa claimed 6 for 19 versus Sunrisers Hyderabad in a lost cause, the second-best figures in the tournament history.

Indeed, 2016 turned out to be an extremely successful one for Zampa, as he finished with most wickets: 30, in 19 matches, with an economy of 5.36 and strike rate of 31.

Zampa remains a key figure in the Australian bowling line-up not only due to his wicket-taking abilities but also the fact that he has proven to be measly as a bowler in limited-overs cricket.
