Kedar Jadhav Biography

Kedar Jadhav is not merely obsessed about fast cars: he also has a penchant for scoring big at brisk pace. In only his fourth ODI, against Zimbabwe, his slammed an 87-ball 105* to bail India out of deep waters. He was already 30 and had to wait for another 15 months to play his next innings for India.

Earlier, in 2012-13, Jadhav toppled several records with his 312-ball 327 for Maharashtra, against an Uttar Pradesh attack consisting Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sudeep Tyagi and Piyush Chawla. He added 231 runs for the fourth wicket with Ankit Bawne at almost 5 an over, before adding 314 for fifth wicket with wicketkeeper Rohit Motwani, again at almost 5 an over. Not many in First-Class cricket have been involved in consecutive double- and triple-hundred partnerships.

A Salman Khan fanatic, Jadhav loves sunglasses and belts, celebrates often by dancing to Dabangg tunes and drives to games in his swanky BMW. On the flip side, he is a shy and modest man when the camera falls on him, far from his shadow of the colourful portrait painted above.

He became a household name after his scintillating century at his hometown Pune in an ODI against England in early 2017. Not often you overshadow Virat Kohli when he scores a hundred, but Jadhav exactly did that in the 200-run fifth wicket match-defining stand. However, Jadhav’s first date with stardom was in 2010 when for Delhi Daredevils he slammed a 29-ball 50 not out against Royal Challengers Bangalore on his IPL debut.

Jadhav has been prolific for Maharashtra for many seasons. In 2013-14 Ranji Trophy, he emerged as the highest run-getter amassing 1,223 runs at 87.35 that included 6 centuries. His domestic accomplishments and an IPL strike rate of over 147 earned him a place for the Bangladesh tour in June. However, he had to wait for a few more months for his international debut.

In late 2016, Suresh Raina’s illness proved to be an opportunity for Jadhav in the ODIs against the touring New Zealand, where he impressed everyone with his bowling. Jadhav can keep wickets and his ability to bowl handy off-spin makes him a valued resource in shorter formats.
