Pradeep Sangwan
Pradeep Sangwan is a tall, broad-shouldered left-arm pace bowler who plays domestic cricket for Delhi. Sangwan was the leader of the bowling attack for India's golden Under-19 batch of 2008 — a side that included future international cricketers like Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Manish Pandey, and Saurabh Tiwary. Sangwan was arguably India's finest bowler of the tournament, finishing with 8 wickets. This included a deadly 5 for 44 against South Africa in the group stage.
Sangwan had already made his First-Class debut before playing the 2008 Under-19 World Cup. In his maiden season for Delhi he ended up with 33 wickets at an average of under 20. Sadly his form tapered off after that, and subsequent seasons saw his form wavering rapidly.
Sangwan’s life was complicated when he tested positive for a banned steroid during IPL 2013. He was slapped with an 18-month ban which lasted till 2014-15. The time away actually did him good; he returned for just a few matches that season, but looked visibly fitter. 2015-16 saw him roar back to his old form. He grabbed 32 wickets at 18 including a sensational spell of 7 for 38 against Orissa.
Sangwan has played for a number of IPL sides. After starting off with Delhi Daredevils for the first few seasons, he went to Kolkata Knight Riders before being picked up by Gujarat Lions at the IPL 2016 auction.
