Preston Mommsen Biography

Born in Durban, Preston Mommsen will perhaps be remembered in Scottish history as the man who ensured they would appear in World Cup for the third time.

Taking over the reins from the injured Kyle Coetzer, Mommsen led Scotland well enough in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers to ensure he was retained as skipper even after Coetzer came back.

A resolute middle-order batsman and a part-time off-spinner, Mommsen's crowning moment came in the final of the World Cup Qualifier against UAE, where he hit an unbeaten 139 to lead Scotland to a match-winning score and ensure them a spot in World Cup 2015.
