Afghanistan in India, 2018

India take on Afghanistan in their latter’s inaugural Test match. The historic Test will be played from June 14-18 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Afghanistan will become the 12th-Test playing nation, after Ireland made their debut last month against Pakistan. Both Afghanistan and Ireland were granted Test status last year in June by International Cricket Council.

India squad will be marshaled by Ajinkya Rahane for Test against Afghanistan. Virat Kohli opted out of the one-off Test due to Surrey stint, but has now been ruled out due to a neck injury. Wriddhiman Saha is also been ruled out due to an injury. Indian side includes the likes of KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur, who shined in the recently concluded IPL.

Afghanistan have also named a spin-heavy squad for the Test under Asghar Stanikzai. They have included Rashid Khan, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Zahir Khan and Hamza Hotak as their four spinners.

The visitor’s won’t find it tough acclimatize to Indian conditions, and could prove to be a tough fight for India.
