Australia faced embarrassing defeat in England when they were whitewashed in the limited overs series.
England clean-swept the series of 6 limited-overs matches.
England had already swept the ODI series 5-0. Now they topped that with a T20I win.
Australia had defeated England twice in February before emerging victorious in the T20I series, also featuring New Zealand.
Australia are second and England fifth in ICC T20I rankings.
Jos Buttler had found success as opener in this season's IPL.
Australia, England, and Pakistan are eyeing the top spot as well.
"There are not too many better in the world at the minute," said Trevor Bayliss of Jos Buttler.
"Forget the 481 at Trent Bridge and the other hammerings -- this game is one England will take more from."
Buttler scored 275 runs in the series with three not-outs including scores of 91*, 54* and 110*.
Despite the 0-5 margin, Tim Paine is optimistic about Australia's 2019 World Cup campaign.
Chasing 206, England were down to 114 for 8, but Jos Buttler made sure the whitewash was completed.
"If I can hopefully share my experiences, that can help turn their learning around quicker."
"We have been outplayed, that's the truth."
"It's just another game and we have to take it a game at a time."
