West Indies (WI) and England (ENG) face off in the first match of the three-Test series at North Sound in Antigua, with the first day to be played on Monday, April 12. While the hosts will be led by wicket-keeper batsman Denesh Ramdin, Alastair Cook makes a comeback into the national team as the leader.
The biggest blow for the West Indians is the unavailability of hard-hitting batsman Chris Gayle, who backed out of the series due to a chronic back problem, which has ensured him missing out of the home series against Australia as well. Shivnarine Chanderpaul will be the batting mainstay for the West Indians, along with the likes of Marlon Samuels.
In the England camp, the Test could prove to be an opportunity for James Anderson to become the highest wicket-taker of all time for England in his 100th Test appearance. Jonathan Trott will also be making his comeback in the side.
Trott will be the center of attraction as far as England are concerned, as he is making comeback to international cricket. He had to leave the Ashes 2013-14 midway due to depression, and it is commendable that he has been successful in making the comeback.
